What An Eventful Day (A Lesson In God's Timing) .:.

I have seriously no idea how I am writing this entry let alone still
awake... But, today is a story about God's timing through all your circumstances... so, it is God, or is it just odd?

I woke up at 6 AM - I'm trying to get into the habit of waking up this
early regularly each day to build into a routine. Anyways, I woke up
and started doing random things when I decided to go back to sleep
(which completely is a bad thing because you'll just go back to sleep -
I'm sure we can all attest to personal experience). Anyways, I wake up
panicking because the security alarm beeps, and I start getting up
figuring I was already behind schedule.

Here are some "timing" events that happened today:

Walking into Six Flags just as it was opening (running late to Jackson Outlets, running around quickly through the outlets - I forgot that I tend to shop with an in-and-out mentality)

Getting a fanny pack at the only location available in Six Flags (riding Superman first with my pockets stuffed with everything I brought in [keys, wallet, cell phone, Palm, gum, pen], walking by two brothers that had lost a cell phone on the ride on my way off the ride)

Running into J and crew at the picnic area as I was walking into the area (wandering Six Flags lost, not hearing my cell phone since the phone was encased in a case in my fanny pack)

Riding all the other rides on the other half and walking back towards Kingda Ka and getting a call saying they were done (not wanting to ride El Toro again because I had already ridden it, wandering the other half of the park, Batman and Robin ride being closed down sometime when I was on that half since that ride was open after lunch)

Running late at Six Flags and driving straight to the beach (a quicker and more direct path from Six Flags although I did miss a rendezvous point/time; so, people were waiting there?)

Calling and getting calls on directions to the beach as I'm leaving Six Flags

Driving much slower on the way back from Belmar (having to go to the bathroom, pulling off onto a random exit off Route 18 in the middle of nowhere, driving a while and not seeing anything, turning onto Route 9, getting pulled into a DWI checkpoint, getting a call saying that someone thought I was pulled over, getting told by the police officer not to be on the cell phone at the same time I was driving, getting back onto Route 18, noticing there was a police car parked in the median not perpendicular to the flow of traffic, calling back and hearing that someone thought I was pulled over for speeding right by Route 9 and Route 18 - which was were the DWI checkpoint was - I wouldn't be surprised if that police car I saw was the one pulling people over on Route 18, jamming the brakes to slow down from 65+ to 50)

.:. Microsoft AutoUpdate Is No Longer My Friend .:.

So, I was auto-updating my Microsoft Office on my Powerbook earlier today. I figured it was all good until I realized the installer didn't finish installing. Later, I tried to launch Word, but I couldn't because I think the AutoUpdater reinstalls Office every time.

So, not finishing the install means I no longer have Microsoft Office on my Powerbook until I can find the install CDs (which I think I didn't back up since the install files don't come on a CD format for the Mac or for the way that I got Office).

Lesson of the day: Sometimes, it's bad to religiously update software...
Lesson of the day: If you have Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, DO NOT install the most recent auto-update.

[EDIT: I found quite a relevant article to this situation. I was actually using my Powerbook while Microsoft Office was updating, and an article on TUAW suggests there are "the dangers of updating: [; so,] don't do anything while optimizing." So, be careful, and when you're updating anything on your Powerbook, "wait a full day until after the update is released, then installing the update clean (with no other applications running), letting it finish, and then rebooting," according to the article.

.:.
